Adeje is a lively town and municipality located on the sunny southwestern side of Tenerife. Tenerife is one of the beautiful Canary Islands, which belong to Spain. This area is part of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife province.
The town of Adeje is about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the coast. It's also 8 km (5 miles) north of the popular resort town Los Cristianos. The island's capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is about 60 km (37 miles) to the northeast. Tenerife South Airport is only 17 km (10.5 miles) away.
Adeje is at the end of the TF-1 motorway. This important road connects Adeje to the south and east coasts of Tenerife. You can also find the amazing Barranco del Infierno gorge here, which is a famous natural area.
The economy in Adeje is mostly about tourism, business, and farming. It's a very important place for tourists, not just on the island but also across Spain and internationally. Adeje is home to Siam Park, a huge water park known as one of the best in the world. This municipality also has the most five-star hotels in Europe! It even has a hotel that won an award for being the best luxury hotel in Spain.

A Look Back in Time
Long ago, about 100 years before the Spanish arrived in 1494, Adeje was a very important place. It was the capital of the Menceyato of Adeje. This was one of the local kingdoms ruled by the Guanches, the native people of the Canary Islands. Today, Adeje is one of the most important tourist cities in the Canary Islands.
