Aerospace Valley is a special group of companies and research centers in France. They all work together on amazing things like airplanes and spacecraft! This group is located in the southwest of France, mainly around the cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse.

What is Aerospace Valley?

Aerospace Valley is like a big team of over 500 companies and research places. They are experts in building airplanes and exploring space. Imagine a giant neighborhood where everyone works on aviation and space projects!

Some famous companies in this team include Airbus (which makes huge airplanes), Air France Industries (which helps keep planes flying), and Dassault Aviation (which makes jets).

Jobs and Research

This group creates a lot of jobs, about 120,000 people work in aviation and space here. Plus, around 8,500 smart researchers are busy inventing new things.

Aerospace Valley wants to create even more jobs, hoping for 40,000 to 45,000 new ones by 2026. Since it started in 2005, they have worked on about 220 research projects. These projects had a total budget of 460 million euros, with 204 million euros coming from the government.

Where is Aerospace Valley?

The main office of Aerospace Valley is in Toulouse. The head of the group is Jean-Marc Thomas, who also helps lead Airbus France.

Here are some of the important places where Aerospace Valley works:

  • Toulouse: This city has many aviation schools like ISAE, ENAC, and IPSA. Over 1,000 researchers work here at places like ONERA and CNES. Many universities are also part of this research hub.
  • Bordeaux: A new research lab for computer science, called INRIA, is located here.
  • Bordes: Near the company Turbomeca, there is a research center that studies fuel for airplanes and spacecraft.
  • Tarbes: This place has a special center where they learn how to take apart old airplanes safely.

Working Together

Aerospace Valley is also part of bigger groups, like the European Aviation Clusters Partnership. This means they work with other aviation groups across Europe. They are also a member of Institut au service du spatial, de ses applications et technologies, which helps with space technology.
