Ahmad Starks is an American professional basketball player. He was born on September 11, 1992. He currently plays for Pelister in the Macedonian First League. Before becoming a professional, Starks played college basketball for two different universities: Oregon State University and the University of Illinois.
High School Basketball Star
Ahmad Starks was a very talented basketball player in high school. He attended Whitney M. Young Magnet High School in Chicago, Illinois. As a junior, he helped his team win a big championship. They won the 4A Illinois High School Boys Basketball Championship by beating Waukegan High School 69–66.
Starks was a highly sought-after player by many colleges. He decided to commit to Oregon State in August 2008. During his senior year, he continued to play great. He averaged 16.1 points, 6.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game. His team made it to the state championship again but lost to Simeon Career Academy.
College Journey
Ahmad Starks played for Oregon State for three seasons. He became a record-holder there for making the most three-pointers in the school's history. He started in 73 games and averaged 10.4 points per game as a junior.
After his junior year, Starks decided to transfer to the University of Illinois. He wanted to be closer to his grandmother who was not well. The NCAA did not allow him to play right away. So, he had to take a redshirt year during the 2013–14 season. This means he practiced with the team but did not play in games. In his final college year (2014–15), Starks started in 20 games for Illinois. He averaged 7.7 points per game.
