Air Nigeria facts for kids
Air Nigeria was an airline from Nigeria. It was the main airline for Nigeria between 2004 and 2012.
The airline started on September 28, 2004, by a company called the Virgin Group. Its first name was Virgin Nigeria Airways. The first flight took off on June 28, 2005.
Changes Over Time
In 2009, the airline changed its name to Nigerian Eagle Airlines. It also started a special program for frequent flyers called Eagleflier. This program let passengers earn points for flying.
Then, in 2010, the Virgin Group sold the airline to another company called the NICON Group. After this, the airline changed its name one last time to Air Nigeria.
Why Air Nigeria Stopped Flying
Air Nigeria's license to fly was taken away on June 13, 2012. This meant they could no longer operate flights. The airline officially closed down a few months later, on September 12, 2012. There were some plans to start the airline again in 2015, but this did not happen.
