Akaska (/əˈkæskə/; ə-KAS-kə) is a small town in Walworth County, South Dakota, United States. In 2020, about 77 people lived there. The name "Akaska" comes from a Sioux word. It means "uncertain."
Akaska's History
Akaska was started in 1907. It became a stop for trains. These trains ran on a special line. The line connected towns like Conde and LeBeau. Trains helped people and goods move around. But train service to Akaska stopped in 1940.
