Alain Guy Chevrier (born April 23, 1961) is a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender. He played in the NHL for several teams, including the New Jersey Devils and Chicago Blackhawks.

Alain Chevrier's Early Hockey Days
Starting in Junior Hockey
Alain Chevrier began playing hockey at a young age. In 1974, he played in the famous Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. This is a big event for young hockey players.
Later, in 1978, Alain joined the Cornwall Royals. This team was part of the QMJHL, a top league for young players in Canada. After one season, he moved to the Ottawa Jr. Senators.
Playing College Hockey in the USA
Alain then decided to play college hockey in the United States. He joined Miami University in Ohio in 1980. He was a key player for the Miami RedHawks team. This team had only recently started playing in NCAA Division I.
Alain played for four years at Miami University. He was named the team's Rookie of the Year in his first season. He also made 2,440 saves during his college career. This makes him one of the best goalies in Miami University's history. In 1992, he was the first hockey player from Miami to be added to their Hall of Fame.
Alain Chevrier's Professional Career
Joining the NHL
Alain Chevrier was not chosen in the NHL draft. However, he signed with the Fort Wayne Komets in 1984. This team played in the IHL. He played well, which caught the eye of the New Jersey Devils.
He then joined the Devils and played three seasons in the NHL. He became their main goalie for the 1986-87 season. He shared playing time with other goalies in 1987-88. On March 9, 1986, a famous player named Gilbert Perreault scored his 500th NHL goal against Chevrier.
Moving to Other Teams
In 1988, Alain was traded to the Winnipeg Jets. He played 22 games for them. In January 1989, he was traded again, this time to the Chicago Blackhawks.
With the Blackhawks, Alain became the starting goalie. He played very well in 27 games. He helped the Blackhawks reach the finals of their conference in the 1989 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They played against the Calgary Flames, who later won the Stanley Cup.
Alain started the next season with Chicago. In March 1990, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played only a few games there. For his last season in 1990-91, he joined the Detroit Red Wings. He played most of that season in the IHL with the San Diego Gulls. He retired from hockey after that season.
Alain Chevrier's Life After Hockey
After his hockey career, Alain Chevrier moved to Boca Raton, Florida. He lives there with his family. He now runs an insurance business.
