Alain Jean Giresse (born 2 August 1952) is a French football coach and former player. He was most recently the manager of the Kosovo national team.
Giresse was a very talented midfielder known for his smart play and quick moves. He was named the French Player of the Year three times: in 1982, 1983, and 1987. He is also the father of Thibault Giresse, who was also a football player and is now a coach.

Playing for France: International Career
Alain Giresse played for the French national team in two World Cups. He helped France reach fourth place in the 1982 FIFA World Cup and third place in the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
He was a key player in the team that won the European Championship in 1984. In that team, he was part of a famous midfield group called the "Carré Magique" (Magic Square). This group included other legendary players like Michel Platini, Luis Fernández, and Jean Tigana.
Coaching Teams: Managerial Career
After his playing career, Alain Giresse became a football coach. He has managed several club teams and national teams around the world.
Coaching National Teams

Giresse has coached national teams like Georgia, Gabon, and Mali. He first became the Mali manager in 2010.
He also coached the Senegal national football team from 2013 to 2015. In 2017, he resigned from his second time managing the Mali national team.
In 2018, Giresse took over as manager of the Tunisia national team. He left that role in August 2019.
Coaching Kosovo
On 23 February 2022, Giresse became the manager of the Kosovo national team. He signed a contract to lead the team until November 2023.
His first squad announcement for Kosovo was on 18 March 2022. It was for friendly matches against Burkina Faso and Switzerland. He called up Emir Sahiti to the team for the first time.
