Alamitos Heights is a cool neighborhood in the city of Long Beach, California, United States. It's located in the southeastern part of the city. Think of it as a special area within Long Beach, just like your street is part of your town.
Where is Alamitos Heights?
This neighborhood has clear borders. To the north, you'll find the Pacific Coast Highway. Colorado Street is its southern border. Park Avenue is on the west side, and Bellflower Boulevard is on the east.
It's surrounded by other interesting places. To the east is University Park Estates. North of Alamitos Heights is Park Estates. Belmont Heights is to the west.
Right to the south of Alamitos Heights is Alamitos Bay. This is a large bay where you can find boats and water activities. To the west, you'll find Recreation Park. This is a big park where people can play sports and relax.
You might hear about Alamitos Beach, but that's a few miles away near downtown. Alamitos Heights got its name from Alamitos Bay, not the beach. Also, Colorado Lagoon, a pretty body of water, is right on the western edge of the neighborhood.
A Bit of History
For many years, from 1904 to 1950, a special train service helped people get around. This was the Pacific Electric Balboa Line. It made it easier for people to travel to and from Alamitos Heights.
