Alan Jeffery Anderson (born October 16, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for eight seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was part of teams like the Charlotte Bobcats, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers. Anderson also played basketball in many countries around the world. These include Italy, Russia, Croatia, Israel, Spain, and China.

Alan Anderson went to Michigan State University (MSU). There, he played college basketball for the Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team.
Becoming a Star Player at Michigan State
During his time in college, Alan was known as one of MSU's best players. He was especially good at handling the ball. In his junior year, he was the main point guard for the team.
As a senior, Anderson averaged 13.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. These great stats earned him a spot on the All-Big Ten Conference Team. He also helped his team reach the Final Four in the 2005 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. His teammates and the media voted him the team's Most Valuable Player (MVP) in his senior year. He finished his studies in August 2005.
Alan Anderson's Professional Basketball Career
After college, Alan Anderson began his professional basketball career. He played for many teams both in the NBA and overseas.
Starting with the Charlotte Bobcats (2005–2006)
Anderson first signed with the Charlotte Bobcats in August 2005. He played with them for a while. Later, he was released by the Bobcats in November 2006. But he rejoined the team in March 2007 for the rest of that season.
Playing in the NBA D-League (2006–2007)
During the 2006–07 season, Anderson played for the NBA D-League team, the Tulsa 66ers. He averaged 15.8 points per game there.
Playing Overseas in Europe
Alan Anderson also had a big part of his career playing basketball in different countries.
Joining Virtus Bologna in Italy (2007–2008)
In September 2007, Anderson signed with Virtus Bologna, an Italian League club.
Moving to Triumph Lyubertsy in Russia (2008)
After one season in Italy, Anderson moved to Russia. He signed with the Russian League club Triumph Lyubertsy in 2008.
Playing for Cibona Zagreb in Croatia (2008–2009)
Anderson then joined Cibona Zagreb, a team in the Adriatic League, in December 2008.
Time with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel (2009–2010)
In May 2009, Anderson signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli League. He played there for one year.
Back to the NBA D-League (2010)
Anderson was chosen by the New Mexico Thunderbirds as the second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Development League Draft. He played 10 games with them. During this time, he averaged 21.3 points per game. He even scored a season-high 34 points in one game.
Playing for FC Barcelona in Spain (2010–2011)
In December 2010, Anderson signed with FC Barcelona. This Spanish League club was the EuroLeague champion at the time. He was named MVP of the 2010–11 Spanish King's Cup. Anderson scored 19 points in the final game, helping his team win. He left the team after one season.
Returning to the NBA with the Toronto Raptors (2012–2013)
On March 26, 2012, Anderson signed a short contract with the Toronto Raptors. He later signed for the rest of the 2011–12 season. He earned the trust of his coach and started many games. In 17 games with the Raptors, he started 12. He averaged 9.6 points per game in 27.1 minutes. He signed with the Raptors again in July 2012. He played for the Raptors for the whole season before becoming a free agent.
Playing for the Brooklyn Nets (2013–2015)
On July 30, 2013, Anderson signed with the Brooklyn Nets. He re-signed with the Nets in July 2014.
Time with the Washington Wizards (2015–2016)
Anderson signed with the Washington Wizards in July 2015. He had surgery on his left ankle in October 2015. He made his debut for the Wizards in February 2016. He scored nine points in 16 minutes in his first game back.
Joining the Los Angeles Clippers (2016–2017)
On August 3, 2016, Anderson signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Final Stint with Lakeland Magic (2018)
On February 10, 2018, Anderson was acquired by the Lakeland Magic. This team is part of the NBA G League.
Anderson also played for the Triplets in the Big3 league.
