For his last two years, Alan transferred to Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York. In his senior year, he was amazing! He scored about 19.2 points and grabbed 9.9 rebounds in each game. He was also great at shooting from long range, making 48 percent of his three-point shots.

Alan led his team to win their first-ever New York State Federation Class AA title. His team also won the Catholic High School Athletic Association Archdiocesan and Class AA titles. Because of his great play, he was named Player of the Year for Westchester County and Putnam County. After high school, Alan decided to play college basketball for Illinois.

College Hoops

At Illinois, Alan Griffin played as a freshman. He averaged 2.8 points in about 8 minutes per game. In his second year, he became the team's "sixth man". This means he was often the first player to come off the bench. He was a key player for the team.

On February 27, Alan had a fantastic game. He scored a season-high 24 points and made six three-pointers. This helped his team win 74–66 against Northwestern. That season, he averaged 8.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He was also a top player in the NCAA Division I for how well he helped his team score.

After two years at Illinois, Alan transferred to Syracuse. He was allowed to play right away. In his first five games for Syracuse, he was the team's top scorer. He scored 23, 20, and 22 points in three of those games.

On December 19, Alan had another huge game against Buffalo. He scored 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and had 3 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. He even made a game-saving block that sent the game into overtime. Syracuse then won by 11 points after being down by 16 earlier! Overall, he averaged 13.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game at Syracuse. After this season, he decided to try for the 2021 NBA draft.
