Early Life and Moving Around
Alana Shipp was born in 1982 in Bridgetown, Barbados. Her parents were from Guyana. She spent her very early childhood years in Guyana. When she was 11 years old, Alana moved to Queens, a part of New York City, in New York.
Alana's Career Journey
Serving in the Marine Corps
After finishing high school, Alana Shipp joined the US Marine Corps. She served as a Marine for almost eight years. During her time, she was a non-commissioned officer. This means she was a leader who helped manage supplies and equipment. She worked in places like Okinawa, Japan, Camp Pendleton, California, and New Orleans, Louisiana. In late 2008, Alana moved to Israel.
Getting into Fitness
Starting as an Amateur
In 2011, Alana Shipp decided to start working out. She wanted to lose weight she had gained after having her two children. She also hoped to get in shape for a special Marine Corps event. In October 2011, she began training with Lia Finkelberg Elbaz and Meny Elbaz. They trained her at their gym in Jerusalem. They suggested she try competing in a bodybuilding competition. She started in the fitness category.

Becoming a Bodybuilder
Amateur Bodybuilding Success
Alana Shipp had planned to compete in the figure category at the 2012 Ms. Universe. However, she gained muscle much faster than she expected. Her coach, Arthur Gooden, helped her with her training. At the 2013 NPC National Championship, Alana won the middleweight division. This big win earned her an IFBB pro card. A pro card means she could now compete as a professional bodybuilder.
Professional Bodybuilding Achievements
In 2014, Alana Shipp's first year as a professional, she qualified for the 2014 Ms. Olympia. The Ms. Olympia is one of the biggest competitions in professional bodybuilding. At the 2014 Ms. Olympia, she achieved an amazing 4th place. This was a great success for her first time competing at such a high level.

She also worked as a manager for Coca-Cola in Dallas, Texas, before moving to Jerusalem. Alana is a Christian.
