Alasgar Hajiagha oglu Alakbarov (Azerbaijani: Ələsgər Ələkbərov) (born March 26, 1910, in Baku – died January 31, 1963, in Baku) was a famous actor. He was from Azerbaijan and also worked in the Soviet Union. He was known for his strong performances on stage and in movies.

Career
Early Life and Passion for Acting
Alasgar Alakbarov was born into a family that was not rich. From a young age, he loved acting and music. He enjoyed watching street shows and listening to singers. When he was 10 years old, his father died. His mother, who was a tailor, raised him and his brothers and sisters.
Until he was 15, Alasgar went to a drama club. There, he learned the basic skills of acting and theatre. This early experience helped him discover his talent for performing.
Becoming a Stage Star
In 1930, Alasgar finished his studies at a performing arts college in Baku. For the next three years, he worked with different theatre groups. He performed in various theatres in Azerbaijan and also in Georgia.
Starting in 1933, he began working at the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre. He stayed there until he passed away. Alasgar was especially good at playing serious and sad roles. His most famous parts were Vagif in the play Vagif by Samad Vurgun and Othello in Othello by William Shakespeare. During his 30-year career, he played Vagif about 700 times! Critics said his acting was very powerful and full of emotion.
Film Appearances
Besides theatre, Alasgar Alakbarov also acted in movies. His first film role was in Vulkan uzarinda ev in 1929. He also starred in many other well-known Azerbaijani films. Some of these include Latif, Almaz, Kandlilar, Ogey ana, Uzag sahillarda, and Boyuk dayaq.
In 1961, Alasgar Alakbarov received a very special award. He was named a People's Artist of the USSR. This happened after he took part in a big cultural event in Moscow in 1959. This event celebrated the culture of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic.
Family
Alasgar Alakbarov was married for a short time to the actress Hokuma Gurbanova. In 1934, their only daughter, Naila, was born.
