Alaskacephale (pronounced Ah-LAS-kah-SEF-ah-lee) was a type of dinosaur that lived a very long time ago. It was a pachycephalosaurid, which means it had a thick, bony dome on its head. This dinosaur lived during the Late Cretaceous period. This was about 80 to 69 million years ago.
Discovering Alaskacephale
Alaskacephale was officially named in 2006. A scientist named Robert Sullivan gave it this name. Its name means "Alaska head," because its fossils were found in Alaska.
Size of Alaskacephale
Alaskacephale was not one of the biggest dinosaurs. It was much smaller than some other well-known dinosaurs. For example, it was about half the size of a Pachycephalosaurus. It was also smaller than a Prenocephale. However, Alaskacephale was about the same size as other similar dinosaurs like "Prenocephale" edmontonensis and Foraminacephale.
