Albert Henry Pierson (born November 17, 1839 – died March 17, 1918) was an American who lived in New York. He worked as a farmer and a teacher, and he was also involved in politics.

Growing Up and School

Albert Pierson was born on November 17, 1839, in a place called Reading, New York. He went to Watkins High School and later studied at Starkey Seminary.

Serving in the Civil War

During the American Civil War, Albert Pierson joined the army as a private. He was very good at gathering people, and he helped form a group of volunteers. Because of this, he became a captain in Company D of the 179th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment.

He was given the special title of major for his brave service. He stayed in the army until the war ended. During a big battle called the Siege of Petersburg, he was injured. He made sure he received proper medical care, and his leg was saved.

Life After the War

After the war, Pierson became a farmer in Trumansburg. He also spent fifteen years teaching in schools. For six years, he worked as a school commissioner, which meant he helped manage schools in the area.

He was also involved in local farming groups. He was the vice-president of the Tompkins County Agricultural Society and a director for the Union Agricultural Society of Ulysses. From 1885 to 1892, he served as a town supervisor for Ulysses. This role meant he helped lead the local government of the town.

Becoming a Politician

In 1891, Albert Pierson was chosen to be a member of the New York State Assembly. He was a member of the Republican political party and represented Tompkins County. He served in the Assembly for two years, in 1892 and 1893.

His Family and Faith

Albert Pierson was married to Harriet. They had three children: Mrs. W. B. McNinch, Grace R., and Elvin. He was also an important member of his local Baptist church, serving as a trustee and a deacon.

Later Years

Albert Pierson passed away at his home on March 17, 1918. He was buried in Grove Cemetery.
