Alborz Province (which is called Ostān-e Alborz in Persian) is one of the 31 provinces in Iran. Its main city and capital is Karaj.
This province is quite new! It was created on June 23, 2010. Before that, it was part of Tehran Province. The Parliament of Iran decided to divide Tehran Province into two, making Alborz the 31st province of the country.
