Tehran Province (Persian: استان تهران) is one of the 30 provinces in Iran. It covers a large area of about 18,909 square kilometers. You can find it in the northern part of Iran, near the center plateau. As of 2005, this province was home to 13 main areas called townships, 43 cities (municipalities), and 1,358 villages. Its capital city is Tehran, which is also the capital of Iran.
