History
Long ago, Alcalá de la Selva was a town called Al-Qual' at. It was settled by the Moors, who were people from North Africa. In 1170, King Alfonso II took control of the town.
Much later, between 1835 and 1840, the town faced a difficult time. It was taken over by soldiers during a conflict called the First Carlist War. These soldiers were loyal to Don Carlos, who wanted to be king of Spain.
