Aldo Duscher's Football Journey
Starting in Argentina and Portugal
Aldo Duscher was born in Esquel, Argentina. He started his professional football career in 1996 with Newell's Old Boys. In 1998, when he was 19 years old, he moved to Europe. He joined Sporting CP in Portugal. In his second season there, he helped Sporting win the Primeira Liga, which is the top football league in Portugal.
Playing in Spain with Deportivo La Coruña
After his time in Portugal, Duscher was signed by Deportivo de La Coruña in Spain. He joined them for about €13 million. In his first year, he didn't play much. But in the years that followed, he became a more important player. He was seen as a future replacement for the experienced Brazilian player, Mauro Silva.
On April 10, 2002, during a UEFA Champions League game against Manchester United, Duscher made a tackle that caused an injury to David Beckham's foot. This injury almost stopped Beckham from playing in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Even though he became a regular player in midfield, Duscher's contract with Deportivo ended in 2007.
Moving to Racing Santander and Sevilla
In July 2007, Aldo Duscher signed with Racing de Santander. He was a very important player for them. That season, Racing Santander achieved something special: they qualified for the UEFA Europa League (then called the UEFA Cup) for the very first time. On December 9, 2007, Duscher scored his first goal in the Spanish top division. This was during a 3–1 home win against Mallorca.
In August 2008, Duscher joined Sevilla on a three-year contract. He scored his first goal for Sevilla on February 4, 2009. This was in a Copa del Rey semi-final match against Athletic Bilbao.
Later Career and Retirement
In the 2009–10 season, Sevilla finished fourth in the league and returned to the Champions League. However, Duscher only played in ten games that season. After that, he ended his contract with Sevilla and signed with another Spanish team, Espanyol, for one year.
In July 2011, Duscher went on loan to Barcelona S.C. in Ecuador for a year. The next summer, after leaving Espanyol, he signed with Enosis Neon in Cyprus. He stayed there for only three months.
In February 2013, Duscher joined Veria in Greece. He retired from playing football shortly after, at the age of 34, without playing any official games for the club.
International Career
Aldo Duscher played for the Argentina national team three times. All of these games happened in 2005.
