Alessandra Panaro was born in Rome, Italy, into a family that had a lot of money. She began studying acting when she was young. Her teacher was Teresa Franchini, a well-known actress.
Alessandra started her movie career at just 16 years old. She quickly became famous in 1956 with the comedy film Poor, But Handsome. This movie was directed by Dino Risi. After this success, she often acted in romantic comedies.
From 1957 to 1958, Alessandra also helped host a popular TV game show called Il Musichiere. She worked alongside her co-star from Poor, But Handsome, Lorella De Luca, and the host Mario Riva.

Alessandra Panaro was married twice. Her first husband was Jean-Pierre Sabet. After he passed away, she married actor Giancarlo Sbragia in 1992.
