College Football Journey
Alex played for the San Diego State Aztecs from 2013 to 2016. In 2012, he was "redshirted." This means he practiced with the team but didn't play in games. It helped him get ready for future seasons.

Overall, Alex played in 50 college games, starting 38 of them. He made 19 sacks, which was tied for the fourth most in his school's history.
Playing Professional Football
After college, Alex was evaluated by NFL teams. He was rated as one of the top defensive ends in the 2017 NFL draft.
Starting with the Detroit Lions
Alex signed with the Detroit Lions in 2017. He was an undrafted free agent, meaning no team picked him in the draft. He spent time on the team's practice squad, which is like a training team. He was with the Lions until 2018.
Playing for the San Diego Fleet
In 2018, Alex joined the San Diego Fleet. This team was part of a new league called the Alliance of American Football (AAF). He played in 8 games and made 15 tackles and 2 sacks before the league stopped playing.
Time with the Oakland Raiders
After the AAF closed, Alex signed with the Oakland Raiders in 2019. He was later released by the team.
Joining the San Francisco 49ers
Alex joined the San Francisco 49ers practice squad in November 2019. Since then, he has been with the 49ers. He has moved between the practice squad and the main team roster many times. This shows how hard he works to stay in the NFL! He continues to be a part of the 49ers team.
