A Musician's Journey
Alexander Müllenbach was born in Luxembourg City on January 23, 1949. He began his music studies at the Conservatoire de Paris. Later, he continued his education at the Salzburg Mozarteum. There, he learned to play the piano, perform chamber music (music for small groups), and compose. His teachers included famous musicians like Gerhard Wimberger and Cesar Bresgen.
Teaching and Composing Music
In 1970, Müllenbach started teaching piano at the Conservatoire de Luxembourg. He also began teaching composition there in 1981. Since then, he has also taught at the Mozarteum.
He has written over 100 pieces of music since 1978. These include thirteen works for a full symphony orchestra and even an opera. He helped create Luxembourg Music Publishers (LMP) and is its vice-chairman. In 2015, he received a special honor. He was given the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Music “Academie Gheorghe Dima” Cluj in Romania. This is a high academic award.
