Alexandre Bolduc (born June 26, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was a centre, which is a key position in hockey, and he played in the top league, the National Hockey League (NHL).

Playing Career

Alexandre Bolduc started his hockey journey playing in a league called the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He played there for four seasons with two different teams: the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and the Shawinigan Cataractes.

After his second season in the QMJHL, where he scored 14 goals and had 43 points, he was chosen by the St. Louis Blues in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He was the 127th player picked overall. Even though he was drafted, he later became a free agent. This means he could sign with any team he wanted. He then joined the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL, which is another professional hockey league.

Moving Up the Ranks

During his first year with the Condors, Alexandre Bolduc also got to play in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Manitoba Moose. The AHL is a league just below the NHL. In the 2007–08 season, he played really well for the Moose, getting 37 points. Because of his strong performance, the Vancouver Canucks, which is the NHL team connected to the Moose, signed him on July 9, 2008.

He continued to play for the Manitoba Moose, which was part of the Canucks' "farm system." A farm system helps develop young players for the main NHL team. On November 25, 2008, Bolduc was called up to play for the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL. He played his very first NHL game on November 27 against the Calgary Flames. He scored his first ever NHL goal on January 2, 2011, against Craig Anderson of the Colorado Avalanche.

New Teams and Captaincy

On July 2, 2011, Bolduc left the Vancouver Canucks and signed a one-year contract with the Phoenix Coyotes. He played for their AHL team, the Portland Pirates, during this time.

Two years later, on July 5, 2013, he left the Coyotes. He then signed a one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues, the team that originally drafted him. For the 2013–14 season, he played for the Blues' AHL team, the Chicago Wolves, where he scored 37 points in 59 games.

On July 1, 2014, Bolduc returned to the Coyotes organization, which had changed its name to the Arizona Coyotes. He played in three NHL games with them during the 2014–15 season. Most of that year, he was the captain of the Portland Pirates for a second time. Being a captain is a big honor, showing he was a leader on the team. He had a great season with the Pirates, getting 52 points in 62 games.

Playing Overseas

After his time in the NHL, Alexandre Bolduc decided to play hockey in other countries. On June 3, 2015, he signed a one-year contract with a Russian team called Traktor Chelyabinsk in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The KHL is a major professional league in Europe and Asia.

He later moved to another KHL team, KHL Medveščak Zagreb, which is from Croatia. After that, he played for Kölner Haie in the German league, Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL).

His career continued in Europe when he signed with the Nottingham Panthers in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) in the UK. Finally, in 2019, he joined Rivière-du-Loup 3L in a Canadian league called the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH), before ending his professional career in 2020.
