Algee Smith IV, born on November 7, 1994, is an American actor and singer. He became well-known after playing Ralph Tresvant in the TV show The New Edition Story. This miniseries was shown on BET.
In the same year, he earned praise for his role as Larry Reed in Kathryn Bigelow's movie Detroit. He is also famous for playing Christopher "Chris" McKay. Chris McKay is a football player in the HBO drama series Euphoria.

About Algee Smith's Early Life
Algee Smith is of African American heritage. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, in the United States. When he was eight years old, his family moved to Atlanta. This is where he began his acting journey.
His father was involved in the arts, and his mother was a fashion designer. This meant Algee grew up surrounded by creative activities. He even made his first rap recording when he was just nine. During this time, he took on several small TV roles. He says these roles helped him become a better actor. Algee was homeschooled for high school. At age 20, he moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles to continue his career.
Algee Smith's Acting and Music Career
Algee Smith appeared in projects like Disney Channel's Let It Shine and the movie Earth to Echo. Then, he got his first big acting job. He played the real-life singer Ralph Tresvant in The New Edition Story. This role also showed off his singing and dancing skills.
Smith also starred in Kathryn Bigelow's movie Detroit. This film tells the story of the Algiers Motel incident. Critics praised his acting in Detroit. He was even nominated for an award for Best Actor. He also sang a song called "Grow" for the Detroit movie soundtrack.
On June 22, 2017, Smith released his first music collection, called an EP. It was titled Listen. This EP featured a mix of R&B and Hip hop songs. In 2018, he acted alongside Amandla Stenberg in The Hate U Give. This movie was based on a popular young adult book.
Smith played Ralph Tresvant again in BET's The Bobby Brown Story. In 2019, he got a main role as Chris McKay in the popular TV series Euphoria. Smith returned to movies in 2021. He played Jake Winters in the film Judas and the Black Messiah. This movie is about the work and death of Black Panther Party activist Fred Hampton. He also played one of the main characters, Sam, in the movie Mother/Android.
