Ali Massoud Ansari (born 24 November 1967 in Rome, Italy) is a well-known history professor. He teaches about modern history, especially focusing on the Middle East. He works at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. Professor Ansari also started and leads the Institute for Iranian Studies at the university. This institute is a special center for studying everything about Iran.

Learning and Working
Early Education
Ali Ansari went to school at Col.Brown Cambridge School in Dehara Dun. He also attended Royal Russell School. After that, he studied at several universities in London.
University Studies
He earned his first degree (BA) from University College London. Then, he got his master's degree (MA) from King's College London. He continued his studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London. There, he earned his PhD, which is the highest university degree. His PhD research was about Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, a former leader of Iran.
Current Work and Research
Besides his work at the University of St Andrews, Professor Ansari is also a special expert at Chatham House. This is a famous research organization in London. He is also part of the group that leads the British Institute of Persian Studies (BIPS).
Professor Ansari often speaks at events and conferences. These events are usually about Iran and its history. His writings and ideas have been shared in many important newspapers and magazines. These include The Guardian, The Independent, and New Statesman.
Special Recognition
In March 2016, Ali Ansari received a big honor. He was chosen as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. This is Scotland's top academy for science and learning. Being a Fellow means he is recognized as a leading expert in his field.
Family Life
Ali Ansari's parents are Mariam Dariabegi and Mohammad Ali Massoud Ansari. His father's cousin is Farah Pahlavi, who was the last Empress of Iran. In 2010, Ali Ansari married Marjon Esfandiary. They had a celebration at Chatham House to mark their marriage.
