Alison Mears is an architect who helps design buildings that are good for people and the planet. She is a certified LEED AP professional. This means she knows a lot about making buildings environmentally friendly. Currently, she leads the Healthy Materials Lab at Parsons The New School for Design. This lab focuses on finding and using safe, healthy materials in building projects. Before this, she directed the architecture and interior design programs at Parsons. Learning to Build: Alison's Education
Alison Mears studied at several universities to become an architect. She earned her first degree in Science from the Australian National University. Then, she got her Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Canberra. Later, she went to Columbia University and earned a Masters in Architecture. All these studies helped her learn how to design and create amazing buildings.
Alison's Career: Designing and Teaching
Alison Mears has worked with some very famous architecture firms. She gained experience at Pei Cobb Freed & Partners Architects. She also worked with Mitchell/Giurgola and Thorp Architects. Today, Alison runs her own architecture firm called Paci+Mears Architects. Her office is in Brooklyn, New York. There, she designs smaller homes and business spaces.
