Allison Tower, once known as Anadarko Tower, is a large, 32-story skyscraper. It stands 439 feet (133.81 m) tall in The Woodlands, Texas. This impressive building is the tallest in Montgomery County, Texas. It is also the tallest building between the big cities of Houston and Dallas.
Allison Tower is special because it was the first office building in The Woodlands to get a LEED certification. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. This means the building was designed and built to be very environmentally friendly. It also earned the Energy Star Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This award shows that the tower saves a lot of energy.
Building Design and Use
The Allison Tower was designed by a famous architecture company called Gensler. It was developed by Patrinely Group. The construction of the tower was quite fast, taking only about 12 months to complete.
This huge building has 807,000 sq ft (75,000 m2) of space. Today, it is used for offices by Occidental Petroleum. The tower is currently owned by Anadarko Realty Company.
Why the Name Changed
Next to Allison Tower, another tall building was built. This new tower was needed because Anadarko Petroleum, the company that owned the first tower, was growing.
In the summer of 2013, during a special ceremony, Anadarko Tower got a new name. It was renamed Allison Tower. This was done to honor Robert Allison, Jr., who was the first CEO of Anadarko Petroleum. The new tower built next to it was named Hackett Tower. It was dedicated to James Hackett, another former CEO of Anadarko Petroleum.
