Almedia is a small community in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's a special area that the government counts for population information. Almedia is part of the larger Northeastern Pennsylvania region. In 2020, about 1,040 people lived there. History of Almedia
Almedia used to have a different name. It was once called Afton. Long ago, there were important industries near Almedia. Workers would dig for lime in quarries. They also used to dredge for coal. This means they would pull coal out of rivers or other water bodies. These industries were a big part of the area's past.

Almedia is found near the middle of Columbia County. Its exact location is 41°0′56″N 76°23′5″W / 41.01556°N 76.38472°W. It sits in the southeastern part of Scott Township. It also extends into the southwestern part of South Centre Township.
