Alta Vista is a small city located in Chickasaw County, Iowa, in the United States. In 2020, about 227 people lived there.
The city was first called Elk Creek. Later, its name was changed to Alta Vista, which means "high view" in Spanish. Alta Vista officially became a city in 1894.
A special building called the George Darrow Round Barn is in Alta Vista. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because it is an important historical site.
