Communities in Worth Township
Worth Township is home to several communities, including some lovely resort areas along the shores of Lake Huron.
Historic Amadore
- Amadore is a historic spot in the township. It was named after an early settler, Amadore Fuller. This area once had a post office that operated for many years, starting in 1868. It was also a stop on a branch of the Pere Marquette Railroad and was sometimes called "Galbraith's Corners."
Lakeside Resort Communities
Along the beautiful shores of Lake Huron, you'll find several smaller communities that are popular for vacations:
- Birch Beach is a community that was first known as "Stevens' Landing." It had a post office way back in 1856. Later, it was renamed Birch Beach, and a post office under that name opened in 1927.
- Blue Water Beach is another community in the township, located right by the lake.
- Great Lakes Beach is also a community within the township, offering lakeside views.
- Huronia Heights was started in 1882 as a private resort by Marcus Young. It also had its own post office for a time, from 1886 to 1901.
- Lexington Heights is another community in Worth Township, close to the lake.
