Amari Jai Rodgers (born September 23, 1999) is an American professional football player. He plays as a wide receiver for the Birmingham Stallions. This team is part of the United Football League (UFL).

Amari played college football for Clemson University. The Green Bay Packers chose him in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft. He has also played for the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts.

Early Life

Amari Rodgers grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. He went to Knoxville Catholic High School there. In his final year, he caught 40 passes. These catches gained him 1,238 yards and 18 touchdowns.

During his whole high school career, he had 3,498 receiving yards. He also scored 47 total touchdowns. Experts saw him as a top player. He was ranked as one of the best wide receiver recruits in the country. Rodgers first planned to go to the University of Southern California. However, he chose Clemson after they offered him a spot.

College Football Journey

Amari started playing for Clemson in 2017 as a freshman. He caught 19 passes for 123 yards that year. In 2018, as a sophomore, he improved a lot. He caught 55 passes for 575 yards and scored 4 touchdowns. He also scored a touchdown by returning a punt.

In 2019, Amari missed his first game. This was because of a knee injury (an ACL tear) he got during practice. Even with the injury, he finished the season strong. He had 30 catches for 426 yards and 4 touchdowns. After this season, he decided to stay at Clemson for his senior year. In his senior year, Amari had an amazing season. He caught 77 passes for 1,020 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Professional Football Career

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers picked Amari Rodgers in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was the 85th player chosen overall. The Packers traded some of their picks to move up and get him. On July 23, 2021, he signed his first professional contract.

He played his first NFL game on September 12, 2021. He caught one pass for 19 yards in that game. During his first season, he returned many punts and kickoffs. He gained 169 yards from punt returns and 199 yards from kickoff returns.

In his second season, Amari had some trouble. He fumbled the ball several times when returning punts. A fumble means dropping the ball. After a game where he fumbled again, the Packers decided to bench him. This means he didn't play as much. The team later released him.

Houston Texans

The Houston Texans picked up Amari Rodgers on November 16, 2022. On December 11, he scored his first career touchdown. It was a 28-yard catch. He finished the 2022 season with 16 catches for 204 yards and one touchdown.

The Texans later waived him on July 30, 2023. This means they let him go from the team.

Indianapolis Colts

On August 2, 2023, Amari signed with the Indianapolis Colts. He was waived again later that month. However, he was then re-signed to their practice squad. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team. On October 3, he was moved to the active roster. But he was waived again on October 20, 2023.

Birmingham Stallions

On December 22, 2023, Amari Rodgers signed with the Birmingham Stallions. This team is part of the United States Football League (USFL). He re-signed with the team on September 23, 2024.

Personal Life

Amari Rodgers' father is Tee Martin, who is also a football coach. Amari is good friends with Randall Cobb. Randall used to be his teammate on the Packers. They met when Cobb played for Amari's father at the University of Kentucky.
