Before joining the Ravens, he was an assistant coach at several universities and high schools.

Martin played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers. He led his team to a national championship in 1998. The Pittsburgh Steelers then chose him in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL draft. During his six years as a player, Martin played in both the NFL and the Canadian Football League (CFL). College Football Career

Playing for the Tennessee Volunteers

Tee Martin played college football at the University of Tennessee from 1996 to 1999. His coach was Phillip Fulmer. For his first two years, Martin was a backup quarterback to the famous Peyton Manning.

Winning a National Championship

In 1998, during his junior year, Martin became the starting quarterback. He led the 1998 Tennessee Volunteers football team to an amazing 13–0 record. They won the Fiesta Bowl against Florida State. This victory earned the University of Tennessee its first NCAA Division I-A national football championship since 1951. Some of his teammates who also went on to play in the NFL included running back Jamal Lewis and wide receiver Peerless Price.

Setting Records

During the 1998 season, Martin set a new NCAA record. He completed 23 passes in a row against South Carolina. When combined with a completion from the previous game, he had 24 consecutive completions. This was a new record for the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the NCAA. He also set a record for the highest completion percentage in a single game at 95.8%.

In 1999, Martin led the Volunteers to another major bowl game. They played in the Fiesta Bowl again, but lost to Nebraska. During his two years as a starter, the Volunteers had a strong record against their main conference rivals.
