The amazilia hummingbird (Amazilia amazilia) is a tiny, fast-flying bird. It is a type of hummingbird known for its quick movements. This bird is often seen in parts of South America.
About the Amazilia Hummingbird
This hummingbird is quite special. It has a close relative called the loja hummingbird (A. alticola). The loja hummingbird looks very similar. However, it has less tan-brown color on its belly. Some scientists think the loja hummingbird might just be a different type of the amazilia hummingbird. This is called a subspecies.
Where It Lives
The amazilia hummingbird makes its home in western Peru and Ecuador. It is a very common bird in these areas. You can even spot it in big cities. For example, it lives in Lima and Guayaquil.
Its Favorite Places
This hummingbird likes dry, open areas. It also enjoys places that are partly open. Sometimes, it can be found living in forests too. It adapts well to different kinds of habitats.
