Beckmannia syzigachne, often called American sloughgrass or slough grass, is a type of grass. It can be an annual, meaning it lives for only one growing season, or a short-lived perennial, which means it lives for a few years. This plant is a bunchgrass, growing in clumps, and it belongs to the large grass family. You can usually find American sloughgrass growing in wet areas like shallow marshes or sloughs, which are muddy or swampy places.
Where American Sloughgrass Grows

About the Beckmannia Genus
Beckmannia syzigachne is special because it is one of only two species in its entire plant group, called the genus Beckmannia. The other species in this genus is Beckmannia eruciformis. This means these two grasses are very closely related.
