Ami Yuasa (湯浅 亜実, Yuasa Ami), born on December 11, 1998, is an amazing breakdancer from Japan. Many people know her simply as Ami. She is an Olympic gold medalist!
Ami has won many big competitions. These include the Red Bull BC One world championship in 2018 and 2023. She also won the WDSF World Breaking Champions title in 2019 and 2022. Ami is also a member of a dance group called the Good Foot Crew.

Ami's Early Life
Ami Yuasa was born in Kawaguchi, Saitama. This city is in the Saitama Prefecture of Japan. She went to Kawaguchi High School. Later, she studied at Komazawa University. She focused on English and American Literature there.
Ami's Breaking Journey
Ami started learning hip hop dance when she was very young. She was in the first grade of elementary school. Her older sister, Ayu, inspired her to start dancing. When Ami was in the fifth grade, she began learning breakdancing.
Big Wins and Championships
Ami quickly became a top breakdancer.
- In April 2018, she won the B-Girl World Final of Red Bull BC One. This big event was held in Zurich, Switzerland.
- In 2019, Ami won the first-ever WDSF World Breaking Championship. This competition took place in Nanjing, China.
- Later in September 2019, she won the 1st World Urban Championship. This event was held in Budapest, Hungary.
- In November 2020, Ami won the 2nd All Japan Breaking Championship. She won in the Open B-Girl division.
- In 2021, Ami placed second at the 3rd WDSF World Breaking Championship. This competition was in Paris, France. Even though she didn't win first place, both she and her sister Ayu (who came in third) stood on the podium together!
More Successes
Ami kept winning major titles.
- She competed at the 2022 World Games in the dancesport competition. She won the gold medal in the B-Girls event.
- In October 2022, Ami won the 4th WDSF World Breaking Championships. This event was held in Seoul, South Korea. This was her second win at this championship, after her victory in 2019.
Olympic Gold
Ami Yuasa represented Japan in Breaking at the 2024 Summer Olympics. She performed incredibly well and won the gold medal! Dominika Banevič from Lithuania won the silver medal.
