Amir Ahmed Khan, also known as the Raja Sahib of Mahmudabad, was an important politician and leader. He was born on November 5, 1914, and passed away on October 14, 1973. He played a significant role in the Pakistan Movement, which was the effort to create a new country called Pakistan.

Early Political Views

When the idea of dividing India into two separate countries, India and Pakistan, first came up, Amir Ahmed Khan was against it. He believed that India should remain united.

Forming a New Party

  • The All-India Muslim League, a major political group, decided they wanted a separate country for Muslims.
  • They passed a resolution in Lahore to create Pakistan.
  • Amir Ahmed Khan disagreed with this decision.

Change of Mind

Later, Amir Ahmed Khan changed his mind. He was influenced by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, another very important leader of the Muslim League. He began to support the idea of a separate Muslim state. He felt that the idea of a new Muslim country in India really excited many Muslims.

Life After Partition

After India was divided and Pakistan was created, Amir Ahmed Khan moved to Pakistan. However, he found the political situation in Pakistan to be very unsettled. Because of this, he decided to move again.

Moving Abroad

  • He first moved to Iraq.
  • Later, he moved to England.
  • In London, England, he became the Director of the Islamic Cultural Centre.
  • He passed away in London in 1973.
  • After his death, his family members eventually moved back to India.
