About Amy Barr Mlinar
Amy Barr Mlinar was born in Palo Alto, California. She went to a famous school called Caltech. There, she earned a degree in planetary science in 2000. This means she studied planets and space. She continued her studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. She earned two more degrees there, one in 2002 and her highest degree, a doctorate, in 2004.
Her Work and Discoveries
Amy Barr Mlinar started her research career in 2005. She worked at different research places, like Washington University in St. Louis and the Southwest Research Institute. In 2015, she joined the Planetary Science Institute. She is now a senior scientist there.
Her main work involves studying how icy worlds form. She looks at how moons like Callisto (which orbits Jupiter) were created. She also studies earthquakes, or "seismic activity," on icy moons like Enceladus (which orbits Saturn). Another important area of her research is the Late Heavy Bombardment. This was a time long ago when many space rocks crashed into planets and moons.
