Who is Amy Rose?
Amy Rose was created by Kazuyuki Hoshino. She first appeared in the Sonic the Hedgehog CD game in 1993. Before that, she was in a Sonic the Hedgehog manga comic. Her early design had red fur and an orange skirt. She was also known as Rosy the Rascal. Sometimes, she was called Princess Sally in game previews.
How Amy's Look Changed
Amy got her famous red dress and boots in the game Sonic Adventure (1998). This new look was designed by Yuji Uekawa.
Amy's Role in the Games
Amy is known for her strong will. She is very determined. Since she doesn't have super speed or strength like other characters, Amy uses a large hammer to protect herself.
In Sonic CD, a robot named Metal Sonic kidnaps Amy. Sonic has to rescue her. After he saves her, Amy gives him a kiss.
Playable Appearances
Amy first became a playable character in a Sonic game in Sonic Adventure. You can also play as her in Sonic Heroes (2003). She is also playable in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). In other games, like Sonic Unleashed (2008), she appears as a character you don't control.
