Sonic Adventure is a super exciting video game from the popular Sonic the Hedgehog series. It was the very first game made for the Sega Dreamcast console! It first came out in Japan on November 27, 1998. Later, it arrived in North America on September 9, 1999, and in Europe on October 14, 1999.
This game was a big deal because it was the first Sonic game to have 3D worlds you could explore. This was different from the flat 2D levels in older Sonic games. Sonic Adventure was one of the first five games released when the Dreamcast launched in Japan. It even has a sequel called Sonic Adventure 2.

How to Play Sonic Adventure
In Sonic Adventure, your main goal is to collect all the powerful Chaos Emeralds. You need these emeralds to stop the evil Dr. Eggman! To do this, you get to play as different characters from the Sonic series.
Each character has their own special levels and goals. For example, Knuckles the Echidna needs to find and put together all the pieces of the Master Emerald.
Playable Characters
You can play as these cool characters:
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Miles "Tails" Prower
- Knuckles the Echidna
- Amy Rose
- E-102 Gamma
- Big the Cat
- Super Sonic (You can play as Super Sonic after you finish the game with all the other characters!)
- Metal Sonic (You can play as Metal Sonic in the DX version after you collect all 130 emblems.)
Sonic Adventure DX Version
Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut is an improved version of the original Sonic Adventure. It was released for the Nintendo GameCube and Microsoft Windows in 2004. Later, it also became available on PSN, XBLA, and Steam.
This version added some new features. It has a "Mission Mode" where you can complete special challenges. There's also a collection of mini-games, which were available on the GameCube and Windows versions. Plus, as mentioned, you can play as Metal Sonic if you collect all 130 emblems in the game.
