Anatoliy Kyrylovych Kinakh (Ukrainian: Анатолій Кирилович Кінах; born 4 August 1954) is a Ukrainian politician. He is also an honorary professor at the Mykolaiv Government Humanitarian University. Kinakh has served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine, which means he was a member of the Ukrainian parliament.
He currently leads the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Ukraine. Before this, Kinakh was the Prime Minister from 2001 to 2002. He also served as a First Vice-Prime Minister and a Minister of Economy for Ukraine. Since 1996, he has been the President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ULIE), a group for businesses.
Besides his political work, Kinakh is involved in public and economic matters. He founded the Premier‑U Foundation. This foundation helps with Ukraine's recovery after war, supports its connection with Europe, and works against corruption.

Early Life and Education
Anatoliy Kyrylovych Kinakh was born on August 4, 1954. His birthplace was Brătușeni, which is now in Moldova.
Starting His Political Journey
In April 1990, Kinakh was chosen to be a member of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament. He represented a part of Mykolaiv Oblast. There, he worked on a special committee that focused on making economic changes.
Later, in 1992, he became the President's representative in Mykolaiv Oblast. From 1994 to 1996, he was the Chairman of the Mykolaiv Regional Council. In 1995, he became a Vice-Prime Minister, in charge of industrial policy. In 1996, he took on the role of President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ULIE), a position he still holds today.
His Career in Politics
Anatoliy Kinakh held several important roles in the government. In the early 1990s, he worked in the local government of Mykolayiv Oblast. From 1995 to 1996, he was the Minister of Industrial Policy.
He served as the Prime Minister of Ukraine from May 29, 2001, to November 21, 2002. In 2002, he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada again. This time, he was part of a group of parties called "For United Ukraine."
In the 2004 Ukrainian presidential election, Anatoliy Kinakh ran for President. He was nominated by the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Ukraine, which he had led since 2000. He believed Ukraine should work closely with Europe but also keep good relationships with other countries like Russia.
During that election, Kinakh supported Viktor Yushchenko, who later became president. Kinakh then became the First Vice Prime Minister in the government led by Yulia Tymoshenko. On September 27, 2005, he became the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
Kinakh was also a key member of the "Our Ukraine" political group in the 2006 Ukrainian parliamentary election. In March 2007, he became the Minister of Economics. Later, he joined the Party of Regions and was re-elected to parliament in 2012.
In February 2014, Kinakh and other former Party of Regions members formed a new group in parliament called Economic Development. In the 2014 Ukrainian parliamentary election, Kinakh ran as an independent candidate but did not win a seat. He did not participate in the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election.
Public and International Work
Since 1997, Anatoliy Kinakh has been the leader of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ULIE). In February 2024, he met with a group from the OECD. They talked about how to rebuild Ukraine's economy after the war. They focused on how public and private groups can work together.
In November 2024, ULIE, led by Kinakh, met with European Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius. They discussed how Ukraine's defense and space industries could join EU programs. ULIE also introduced the new Premier‑U Foundation, based in Poland. This foundation aims to help Ukraine rebuild, join Europe, fight corruption, and train future leaders. Former Polish President Lech Wałęsa is a goodwill ambassador for the foundation.
The Premier‑U Foundation focuses on making Ukraine's defense sector modern and strong, following NATO standards. It also works on making more defense equipment and building partnerships with the EU. The foundation plans to open an office in Brussels.
Interview in April 2025
In April 2025, Kinakh gave an interview on TV. He shared his concerns about the morale of soldiers. He said that some soldiers had started to lose faith in the idea that they were defending a fair country. He warned that helping soldiers feel better about their mission was as important as military plans.
