Anatoly Mikhailovich Sagalevich (Russian: Анатолий Михайлович Сагалевич; born on September 5, 1938) is a famous Russian explorer. He is known for his amazing work with deep-sea submersibles, which are like special submarines that can go very deep underwater.

Since 1995, he has worked at the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology. This is a big science center in Russia. Before that, he directed the Russian Deepwater Submersibles Laboratory starting in 1979. He even helped build some of these special submersibles, including the Pisces and the famous MIR vehicles.

Anatoly Sagalevich has completed over 300 dives as a chief pilot. He led 28 expeditions using the MIR submersibles between 1989 and 2005. He piloted the MIR during important trips to famous shipwrecks. These include the British passenger ship RMS Titanic, the German battleship Bismarck, and the Soviet submarine K-278 Komsomolets. He also explored the Japanese submarine I-52 and the Russian submarine K-141 Kursk.

He holds a world record for the deepest freshwater dive. In 1990, he dived 1,637 meters (5,371 ft) into Lake Baikal in a Pisces submersible. This lake is the deepest in the world.

On August 2, 2007, Sagalevich piloted the MIR-1 submersible to the seabed (the bottom of the ocean) at the North Pole. This was part of the Arktika 2007 expedition. For his bravery and success on this trip, he was given the title Hero of the Russian Federation on January 10, 2008. This is one of the highest honors in Russia.
