Ancones is a special kind of neighborhood called a barrio in the town of Arroyo, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 5,719 people lived there.

A Look at Ancones' Past

After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of an agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a special area of the United States.

In 1899, the United States government counted all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that Ancones, along with two other barrios named Palmas and Guásimas, had a total of 596 people living in them.
