Andijan Region is a part of Uzbekistan. It's located in the easternmost part of the country. It shares borders with the Namangan Region, the Fergana Region, and the country Kyrgyzstan. This region is found in the lower part of the Fergana Valley.
About 3 million people live in the Andijan Region. This means it has more people per square kilometer than any other region in Uzbekistan! The main city and capital of the Andijan Region is Andijan. The Andijan Region covers about 1% of all the land in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan was once part of the Soviet Union from 1924 to 1991. During that time, religion was not allowed, and mosques were closed. Even so, most people in the region today follow Islam.
The Andijan Region has 14 administrative districts, 11 cities, and 95 villages. The region's leader, called a hokim, is Shuhratbek Abdurahmonov. Most people in the Andijan Region speak Uzbek.
In 1902, a big earthquake hit Andijan. More than 4,000 people sadly lost their lives.
The Andijan Region has important natural resources. These include petroleum (oil), limestone, and natural gas. The region is also well-known for its delicious, sweet watermelons and melons.

The Andijan Region is a busy place for different types of work.

Car Manufacturing
The very first car factory in all of Central Asia was built in the town of Asaka. Asaka is the capital of the Asaka District, which is also in the Andijan Region.
