Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková is a former professional tennis player from the Czech Republic. She was born on August 10, 1986. Andrea became famous for her amazing skills in doubles tennis.

She won three major Grand Slam titles in doubles. She won the French Open in 2011 and the US Open in 2013 with her partner Lucie Hradecká. She also won the US Open in mixed doubles in 2013 with Max Mirnyi. Andrea reached her highest doubles ranking of world No. 3 in October 2012. She won 27 doubles titles on the WTA Tour, including the WTA Finals in 2017.

In singles, Andrea reached her highest ranking of world No. 58 in September 2012. Her best singles result at a major tournament was reaching the fourth round at the 2012 US Open. She also helped the Czech team win the Fed Cup in 2012 and 2014. Andrea won a silver medal in doubles at the 2012 London Olympics with Lucie Hradecká.

About Andrea's Life

Andrea Hlaváčková married Fabrizio Sestini, who used to be a tennis player and worked for the WTA. They got married in July 2017. After their marriage, Andrea started playing under her new name, Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková. They have two daughters, Isabella, born in 2019, and Bea, born in 2024.

Andrea's older sister, Jana Hlaváčková, was also a professional tennis player. Andrea started playing tennis when she was just three years old.

Andrea's Tennis Journey

Andrea was a top junior doubles player. At the end of 2003, she was the best-ranked girls' doubles player. Her highest singles ranking as a junior was No. 5 in January 2004. She won three singles titles and 15 doubles titles during her junior career.

She won her first professional doubles title in 2003. This was at an International Tennis Federation (ITF) event in her home country, the Czech Republic.

Early Professional Success

In May 2006, Andrea won her first ITF singles title in Spain. She also won several ITF doubles titles that year. In 2007, she won her first WTA doubles title with her partner Petra Cetkovská in Prague, Czech Republic.

Andrea formed a very successful doubles team with Lucie Hradecká. They won the 2008 ECM Prague Open in 2008 and another title in Austria that same year.

Grand Slam Wins and Olympic Medal

Andrea and Lucie Hradecká won their first Grand Slam title together at the 2011 French Open in 2011. They beat Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina in the final.

A big moment for Andrea was winning a silver medal at the London Olympics in 2012. She achieved this with her doubles partner Lucie Hradecká. At the US Open later that year, Andrea had her best singles performance, reaching the fourth round. She was eventually defeated by the famous Serena Williams.

In 2013, Andrea had an incredible US Open. She won two titles: the mixed doubles title with Max Mirnyi and the women's doubles title with Lucie Hradecká.

Later Career and Retirement

Andrea continued to play and win titles. In 2016, at the Rio Summer Olympics, she had an unfortunate incident where a ball hit her left eye during a match.
