Maksim Mikalaevich "Max" Mirnyi (born July 6, 1977) is a former professional tennis player from Belarus. He is often called "The Beast of Belarus" because of his strong play. Max became a top player in doubles tennis after starting his career in singles.
He reached a high ranking of World No. 18 in singles in 2003. He was among the top 50 players for seven years in a row. Max won one singles title during his career. He played for Belarus in the Davis Cup, winning 47 matches. In June 2003, he became the World No. 1 in doubles. He won ten Grand Slam titles in total. These include six in men's doubles and four in mixed doubles.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Max had a very special moment. He carried the flag for Belarus during the Opening Ceremony. Later, he won a gold medal in mixed doubles with his partner, Victoria Azarenka.
