Andrew Bishop (born 7 August 1985) is a former Welsh international rugby union player. He played in the Centre position for the Ospreys team.

Andrew Bishop was a very important player for the Wales Under 21 team. They won a "Grand Slam" in 2005. This means they won all their games in the championship that year.

Playing for Wales

First International Games

In May 2008, Andrew was chosen to join the Welsh national team. They were going on a tour to South Africa. He played his first game for Wales on June 14, 2008. He came on as a substitute in that match.

Later that year, on November 14, he started his first game for Wales against Canada. Wales won this game with a score of 34–13. He also played against Australia. He came on as a substitute early in the game. Many people thought this might make it harder for Wales to win. However, Andrew played very well. Wales won 21–18. This was a big win because it was the only time a team from the Northern Hemisphere beat one of "The Big Three" teams that year. The "Big Three" are Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Six Nations and Tours

Andrew also played in the Six Nations tournament. He came on as a substitute against Scotland in 2009. This was his only game in that tournament. He was also a substitute for the game against England but did not play.

In 2009, Andrew started for Wales on their tour of North America. Many main players were missing because of injuries or other tours. Still, Wales won against Canada 32–23. He then started against the United States. Wales won that game 48–15.

In 2010, Andrew was part of the 35-player Wales national squad for the Six Nations tournament. He was a substitute for every game. He only played in the match against Ireland.

Retirement from Rugby

On October 8, Andrew Bishop had to stop playing rugby. He retired because of a back injury that kept coming back.

Life After Rugby

Andrew Bishop's brother, David, was also a professional rugby player. David also played for the Wales Under-21 team.

After retiring from playing, Andrew became a coach. He now coaches the Treorchy RFC team. He has three daughters named Lara, Mila, and Indie.
