Andrew Neiderman (born October 26, 1940) is an American novelist. He writes exciting stories, often in the gothic horror style. This means his books can be a bit spooky and mysterious!
In 1987, Andrew Neiderman became a "ghost writer" for another famous author, V. C. Andrews. A ghost writer writes books for someone else, and the books are published under the other person's name. He started this after V.C. Andrews passed away in 1986. Before becoming a full-time writer, he taught English at Fallsburg Jr./Sr. High School in New York.
One of Neiderman's most famous books is The Devil's Advocate. This book was made into a movie in 1997. Big stars like Keanu Reeves, Al Pacino, and Charlize Theron were in the film. He also helped turn the novel Rain into a movie. This story was part of a series published under V.C. Andrews's name.
Andrew Neiderman has also worked on plays and musicals. He wrote the stage play for Flowers in the Attic, which is another book by V.C. Andrews. This play was first shown in New Orleans in 2015. He also wrote the words for a musical version of his own book, The Devil's Advocate. The words for a musical are called a libretto.
Besides writing books, Neiderman has helped write screenplays for movies. A screenplay is the script for a film. He co-wrote the script for a TV movie called Duplicates. Six of his other novels have also been made into films.
By 2010, with the book Guardian Angel, Andrew Neiderman had written an amazing 125 novels! This includes both the books published under his own name and those he wrote as the ghost writer for V.C. Andrews.
Andrew Neiderman lives in Palm Springs, California. He was honored there with a special Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars in 1997. This is like getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
