Andrew Ranger's Racing Journey
Andrew Ranger started his racing career at a young age. He quickly showed he was a talented driver. He moved up through different types of racing.
Early Career and Open-Wheel Racing
In 2002, Andrew Ranger became the Canadian Formula A Karting champion. The next year, 2003, he won the North American Fran Am 2000 Pro Championship. This showed he was ready for bigger races.
In 2004, he raced in the Toyota Atlantic series. He drove car number 27, which was special because famous Quebec racecar drivers Gilles Villeneuve and Jacques Villeneuve also used it. Andrew finished in the top three six times. He also won the "Rookie of the Year" award, meaning he was the best new driver that season.
Andrew then moved to the Champ Car World Series in 2005. He was the youngest driver ever to finish in the top three in a Champ Car race. He placed second at Monterrey. He finished 10th in the overall points championship that year. In 2006, he continued in the Champ Car series and again finished 10th in the standings. His best finish was fifth place.
NASCAR Racing Adventures
After Champ Car joined with another racing league, Andrew Ranger switched to stock car racing. He joined the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in 2007. He drove the No. 27 Ford for Dave Jacombs. He won his second race in the series at Mosport International Raceway. He also won the season championship that year.
In 2008, he won races at Montreal and Trois-Rivières. He also earned four pole positions, which means he started the race in the very front.
The 2009 season was amazing for Andrew in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. He won six races, including his first-ever win on an oval track at SunValley Speedway. He also had two pole positions and many top-three finishes. Andrew won his second championship by a large margin that year.
Andrew also raced in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (now called the Xfinity Series). In 2008, he had his best finish of 19th at Bristol Motor Speedway. In 2009, he finished third in a big race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
In 2010, Andrew raced part-time in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. He also competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West series. He won races in both series, including one at Infineon Raceway and another at Lime Rock Park. He became the first driver to win in all three NASCAR regional touring series in one year. He also won two more races from the pole position at Circuit Trois-Rivières and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
In 2011, Andrew continued to win races. He won an ARCA race at New Jersey Motorsports Park. He also finished sixth in a NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Road America. Andrew made his debut in the top NASCAR series, the Sprint Cup Series, finishing 35th at Watkins Glen.
For 2012, Andrew won two Canadian Tire events in his home province of Quebec. He also won the ARCA event at New Jersey Motorsports Park again. In 2013, he won at New Jersey Motorsports Park in the ARCA Racing Series for the third year in a row.
From 2014 to 2019, Andrew raced for DJK Racing in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. He did not race in the shortened 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He returned to the series in 2021 with Rick Ware Racing.
Andrew Ranger continues to be a strong competitor in the NASCAR Canada Series. He has achieved many wins and championships throughout his career.
