Roland "Andy" Bennett Anderson OBE (born October 23, 1913 – died December 9, 2010) was an American Major General in the army. After retiring from the military, he became the 7th Mayor of Naples, Florida. He served as mayor from 1978 to 1982.

Early Life and Education
Roland "Andy" Anderson was born on October 23, 1913. He first went to the University of Oklahoma. Later, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1938. West Point is a famous school for training army officers.
His Time in the Military
Andy Anderson was a soldier during World War II. He worked as an officer in charge of weapons and supplies. He helped the U.S. anti-aircraft forces in the Pacific Ocean area. After the war, he worked at the Pentagon. This is the headquarters for the U.S. military. He even worked in Peru for a while.
Later, Anderson was promoted to a high rank. He helped manage all the weapons and supplies for the United States Army in Europe. When he came back to the U.S., he became the Director of Army Procurement. This meant he was in charge of buying things for the army. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Major General.
He received many important awards for his service. These included the Purple Heart, the Distinguished Service Medal, and the Legion of Merit. He also received the Order of the British Empire.
Becoming a Mayor
After retiring from the army in 1971, Andy Anderson moved to Naples, Florida. He decided to get involved in local government. He was elected to the District School Board of Collier County. He also served on the Naples City Council.
From 1978 to 1982, he was the 7th Mayor of Naples. He helped lead the city during those years.
Later Life
Andy Anderson passed away on December 9, 2010. He was 97 years old. He had three children, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. His wife, Gene Cox Anderson, passed away in 1999. They had been married for 55 years.
