Andy White (born 28 May 1962) is a talented singer, songwriter, poet, and author from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He started writing at a young age. Andy White's Musical Journey
Andy White began writing poetry and music when he was very young. He even wrote a poem called "Riots" when he was just nine years old! He went to Methodist College Belfast and later studied English Literature at Robinson College, Cambridge, graduating in 1984.
Early Music and First Albums
In 1985, Andy released his first collection of songs, called an EP, titled Religious Persuasion. The next year, in 1986, his first full album, Rave on Andy White, came out. Since then, he has released thirteen solo albums. He has also put out many collections of his best songs and live recordings.
Working with Other Artists
Andy White has collaborated with many other artists. Some of these include famous names like Peter Gabriel and Sinéad O'Connor. In 1993, he won Ireland's Hot Press Songwriter of the Year Award, which was a big honor!
In 1995, Andy joined forces with Tim Finn from the band Split Enz and Liam Ó Maonlaí from Hothouse Flowers. They formed a trio called ALT and released an album together called Altitude. More recently, in 2023, Andy White and Tim Finn worked together again on an album called AT.
Andy also collaborated with Canadian songwriter Stephen Fearing. They released two albums as a duo called Fearing & White. Their first album, Fearing & White, came out in 2011, and their second, Tea And Confidences, was released in 2014.
Touring the World
Andy White loves to perform live and tours often. He has played at many big music events around the world. These include the famous Glastonbury Festival in the UK and various WOMAD festivals in places like South Africa, the USA, Italy, and Singapore. He has also performed at international folk festivals in Canada and Australia.

Andy White is well-known for songs like "Religious Persuasion", "James Joyce's Grave", and "Italian Girls on Mopeds". His music often includes political and literary themes, making his songs very thoughtful.
Besides music, Andy is also an author. In 1999, he published a book of his song lyrics and poems called The Music Of What Happens. In 2009, his first prose book, 21st Century Troubadour, was released. He also published another book of poetry, Stolen Moments, in 2011.

Andy's most recent solo album is This garden is only temporary, released in 2022. Since touring became more difficult in 2020, he has kept in touch with his fans online. In 2022, he even started his own podcast called This podcast is only temporary.
Today, Andy White lives in Melbourne, Australia, with his son, Sebastian. He also teaches at Melbourne Polytechnic.
