Angela Faye Kinsey (born June 25, 1971) is an American actress best known for playing the serious and cat-loving accountant, Angela Martin, in the popular TV show The Office.

Besides her famous role in The Office, she has appeared in other TV shows like Your Family or Mine and Haters Back Off. She has also been in movies like Netflix's Tall Girl and hosted the Disney+ cooking show Be Our Chef. Today, she co-hosts the very popular podcast Office Ladies with her best friend and former co-star, Jenna Fischer.

Early Life and Education

Angela Kinsey was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. When she was just two years old, her family moved across the world to Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. Her father worked there as a drilling engineer. Angela lived in Jakarta for 13 years and went to the Jakarta Intercultural School.

While living there, she learned to speak the Indonesian, which she can still speak sometimes. When she was 14, her family moved back to the United States and settled in Archer City, Texas.

For college, Kinsey went to Baylor University and studied English. She loved acting, so she took as many theater classes as she could. She also joined the Chi Omega sorority and studied abroad for a semester in London, England.

Starting Her Career

After graduating from college in 1993, Kinsey got an internship on the TV talk show Late Night with Conan O'Brien in New York City. She said it was an "awesome" experience. She worked for the show's drummer, Max Weinberg. This inspired her to move to California to pursue her acting dreams.

Once in Los Angeles, Kinsey took classes in improvisation, which is a type of acting where you make up the scenes as you go. She worked hard, taking small roles in TV shows while also working at a 1-800-Dentist call center. She even did voice acting for the character "Angela" in two episodes of the cartoon King of the Hill.

Breakthrough with The Office

In 2005, Kinsey's big break came. She first auditioned for the part of the friendly receptionist Pam Beesly on The Office. The producers thought she was "a little too feisty for Pam," which means she had a bit too much attitude for the character.

They asked her to try out for a different role: the strict and rule-following accountant, Angela Martin. She was perfect for the part and won the role that would make her famous. For her work in a special online series called The Office: Accountants, she and the cast won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2007.

Kinsey became very close with her castmates on The Office. She often organized get-togethers for the cast. She said, "I remember watching Friends and thinking, 'They really enjoy each other.' We, in fact, hang out."

What Has Angela Kinsey Done Since The Office?

After The Office ended in 2013, Kinsey continued to act in many different projects.

Television and Movies

She starred in the Netflix series Haters Back Off as Bethany, the mother of the main character, Miranda Sings. She also appeared in the popular Netflix movie Tall Girl and its sequel, playing the main character's mom. In 2020, she hosted the family cooking competition Be Our Chef on Disney+ and was a panelist on the MTV show Deliciousness, where people watch funny food videos.

The Office Ladies Podcast

In 2019, Kinsey started a new project with her best friend and The Office co-star, Jenna Fischer (who played Pam Beesly). They created a podcast called Office Ladies. Each week, they re-watch an episode of The Office and share behind-the-scenes stories and fun facts.

The podcast became a huge success and won "Podcast of the Year" at the iHeartRadio Podcast Awards in 2021. In 2022, Kinsey and Fischer also released a book together called Office BFFs: Tales of The Office from Two Best Friends Who Were There.

Personal Life

In 2000, Angela Kinsey married writer and producer Warren Lieberstein. His brother, Paul Lieberstein, played Toby Flenderson on The Office. Angela and Warren had a daughter together in 2008. The couple separated in 2009 and later divorced, but they remained friends.

In 2016, Kinsey married actor and baker Joshua Snyder. She is a step-mother to his two sons. Together, they run a YouTube channel and website called "Baking with Josh & Ange," where they share recipes and bake together.

Kinsey is a supporter of Alley Cat Allies, a group that works to protect and improve the lives of cats.
